Do you know what your org is made out of? Diversity is a critical part of successful business and ethical work practices. A healthy business includes employees—and leaders—from a variety of different backgrounds.
But diversity is more than meets the eye. Which racial backgrounds are represented in your workforce? Gender preferences? Religions? Do you have any veterans working for you? What about people with disabilities?
This diversity survey helps you understand where your employees fit in so that you can:
- Understand where you need to work to build more representation
- Understand whether your current employees might have special needs that you should be working to support (e.g. religious holidays to commemorate, breastfeeding rooms for new mothers, etc.)
- See whether there are opportunities to create internal communities (such as Employee Resource Groups) around specific identities in your workforce
- Celebrate the diverse community that you already have
Many companies have chosen to publish diversity reports in order to hold themselves accountable for positive change. If you choose to do the same, sending this survey annually (or quarterly) is a great place to start.
